May 29, 2006: The initial bench tests with a bleeder load looked good so I need to figure out how to package these large components. I would like to be able to see the blue glow of the mercury vapor rectifiers and I found a small panel with a cane metal screen so I could view the tubes. But now I need a taller cabinet... and some mechanical work to fit everything in there with a new control circuit. I fabricated an aluminum plate to mount the tubes to replace the wooden board.

I will replace the red cane metal at some point but at least I can get a view of the rectifiers. I took the variac apart and fully tested it and it is now operating. The control circuit and fusing needs to be changed. The meter panel tested OK but the voltmeter reads low by about 10 percent. I will adjust the meter resistors later.
